With the clear, simple strength of a living handcraft, Stephen Gerould lamps add a beautifully subtle depth of character to the interiors they inhabit. The fluid, natural shapes of his designs are intuitive yet classic. Defying the imposed constraints of an identifiable genre, they work effortlessly between cultures-Asian, European, and American. Gerould’s exceptional range of glazes offer designers a color-rich pallet, some translucent and sensitive to the clay surface-others derive their character from variables of temperature and atmosphere. His collection is eclectic, evolving, and abidingly current.
Clay McLaurin and Todd Piercy founded Clay McLaurin Studio in 2013 on the belief that the environment we live in should be a reflection of our own life and experiences. Their personal discoveries and explorations are brought to life in their first collection of home textiles.
The studio’s mission is to create useful, timeless design through the artistic process, by forming simple, bold compositions with collaborative patterns and colors.
Clay, an artist, employs his skill by hand painting each design inspired by the natural world whether it be an object found on the coast of Maine or a textile technique learned while visiting Japan, to the tranquil hillsides of Spain. These experiences are layered together to create beautiful, carefully printed textiles that are both traditional and modern.
